Hello, Anyone Out There?

I am officially back to blogging. I compare my little holiday not so much to a restful cure as to a brief climb onto the wagon. So I'm off now, and I imagine, like a wistful alkie I will come back with a vengeance! Please pick me up if you find me, stinky, badly clothed, and with fingers permanently affixed to a keyboard, in a gutter near you.

I know you are dying to know what I've been up to. But I can't bear to write about it at length. So I will offer the following aspects and events of my summer; what I loved, hated, and as you have come to expect, my opinions on selected happenings.

1) Chlorinated water and goggles, swimming lessons, oh yeah

2) Packing two weeks worth of clothing and supplies for a five day trip

3) More Yorkie ass infections

4) The Hours, read in portions, as it is just so emotional, and like good chocolate

5) Soccer Mommy Nail Girl

6) Fuss Free Fake Fingernails

7) Worry about inevitable ear infection after a cold predicted to arrive as we are in the middle of Oklahoma in the middle of the night

8) Relief that for the first time in z history, I am proved wrong and no ear infection surfaces...Pissedoffedness that valuable joy was wasted spent worrying

9) BBQ; including but not limited to: Ribs, Pork Steak, Burgers, Brats and Dogs; as well as the best Steak au Poivre a la Z that you've ever wrapped your meat lovin' mouth around

10) Thirteen and a half butt numbing hours in a Durango wit nuttin to see but Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. It helped that GW was in Crawford at the time we traveled through. But not much

11) A military ceremony that rocked

12) Insane...scratch that...INSANE Texas drivers. Since when do you speed up to 90 on access ramps and then come to a complete stop once on the highway? Who the fuck designed those roadways, anyway? Or am I asking a dumb question?

13) Coach Pitch for four year olds at 106 degrees in the shade. Uhh, hello? Kids are Little, Sun is Hot. I spent the entire game in the dugout, exhorting my child to drink water...and I mean the whole little bitty cup each time!

14) The Nanny Diaries, scary!

15) Twilight games of basketball and baseball with the neighborhood kids and 'rents

16) Fights with Family induced by years of having individual lives and holding onto past grievances; enhanced by beer and emotion

17) The Damned Broken Rubber

18) The Glorious Lovely Monthly Arriving a Day Early, Thank You God

19) Big Brother 4. Not the best of all the seasons, but still the best Reality TV. Jason, if you had to miss a year, this is the one

20) Celia's prayers answered

21) Thirteen and a half butt numbing hours home in a Durango wit nuttin to see but Texas, Oklahoma, and finally, Kansas. I refuse to sleep and finally give in at one in the morning. So damned happy to be home

22) Z's business booming at worst possible time but hey, at least we're not pregnant

23) Awesome retirement party for brother and chance to meet his friends; wished I lived in Texas for 2.5 seconds

24) The grass Z slaved over is dead, dead, dead. Or as he calls it, dormant

25) z continuing to be the best little boy in the universe

26) The real time observation that military chicks can sit in 100 degree heat for an hour and a half, clothed in polyester blend uniforms and Hanes Extra Durable 10 ply pantyhose and pumps, and come off cool as a cucumber with nary a drop of sweat. Assumed military issued two inches of makeup, weird tie and patent leather pumps to boot. Now that is who I want fighting for this country

27) Realization that even if I DON'T choose the hotel, it will still suck and I will pay too much for horrific service. (See my food rant....archives, darling.)

28) Loving my sister in law and wishing she lived closer; meeting my new one and connecting with her

29) Watching z learn to be an independent little person, but watching his friendship and love for his parents grow

29) Knowing that after a month or so of not being in the blog loop, I miss it uh, a lot. Not so much me not contributing, but the give and take of the comments. I MISSED YOU GUYS! Is that sick or what???

Just an idea of what happened while I was out. I cannot believe summer is almost over (or so they say, since school is starting in like, July now). I, for one, am looking forward to the delights of fall, winter, and spring. Looks like Hallmark feels the way I do, as when I stopped by to buy cards for birthdays the other day, the Halloween decs hit me in the face and the Christmas ones were a mere aisle away.

I will not be borrowing time as our marketing friends are, but I will say that I look forward to a wonderful year (yes, a year starts when a school year does for me) of happy and enlightening blogging for you and for me. Raise your glass, here we go!
